The solution to loose dredge floats consists of the following four main types of inspections and adjustments to the floats:
● Buoyancy check: ensure that the buoyancy of the float is greater than 30% of the weight of the pipe itself (including mud with a specific gravity of 1.3) to ensure that the float is able to hold up the pipe and mud in a stable manner.
● Total weight check: the total weight of the float is not less than 3-5% of the ordinal parameter, this is to ensure that the weight of the float is sufficient, and also related to the float shell weight, float foam specific gravity and volume to ensure the strength of the plastic shell and the specific gravity of the foam.
● Plastic shell plasticization degree check: floating body plastic shell should be smooth surface, no obvious particles, to ensure the durability and stability of the floating body.
● Foam filling density check: the foam filling density of the range should be around 35kg/m^3, at this time the tensile strength is about 0.2MPa, slightly elastic, not sticky, not brittle as qualified, which is the key indicator to ensure the structure and performance of the floating body.
