High-density polyethylene
HDPE pipe is a pipe made of high density polyethylene (HDPE). HDPE pipe is a replacement product of traditional steel pipe and PVC drinking water pipe, which has excellent pressure resistance and chemical stability, and is widely used in various pipeline systems
The main characteristics of HDPE pipes include their high crystallinity, non-polar and thermoplastic resin properties. The appearance of the original HDPE is milky white, and it is translucent to a certain extent in a thin cross-section. The material has good resistance to most domestic and industrial chemicals, but certain types of chemicals such as corrosive oxidants (e.g., concentrated nitric acid), aromatic hydrocarbons (e.g., xylene), and halogenated hydrocarbons (e.g., carbon tetrachloride) can cause chemical corrosion. In addition, HDPE has very good electrical properties, especially the high dielectric strength of insulation, making it suitable for wires and cables. HDPE with medium to high molecular weight grades has very good impact resistance at room temperature and even low temperatures.
HDPE pipes have a wide range of applications, including but not limited to water supply, drainage, agricultural irrigation, and other fields. It can withstand a certain amount of pressure, and is usually made of PE resin with large molecular weight and good mechanical properties. Although low-density polyethylene (LDPE) resin is often used in the production of drinking water pipes due to its high hygiene indicators, its low tensile strength, differential pressure resistance and poor rigidity are not suitable as materials for water supply pressure pipes. In contrast, HDPE pipes have a high conveying capacity due to their smooth inner wall and non-adhesive properties, reducing the pressure loss of the pipeline and the energy consumption of water transportation. In addition, HDPE pipes are lighter than concrete pipes, galvanized pipes and steel pipes, which are easy to handle and install, which greatly reduces the installation cost of the project.
